This oval cast iron frying pan with a heavy cast iron lid was designed by the late craftsman Rikucho Ogasawara, one of the most celebrated figures in Japanese cast iron craftsmanship. Born in Oshu, Iwate Prefecture—the renowned home of Nambu Tekki—this piece is regarded as one of his signature works.
Named "Fish," it features a bold and elegant presence. The weighty cast iron lid helps retain heat and moisture, making it ideal for preparing simmered fish, Acqua Pazza, and a variety of other seafood dishes.
The handle showcases Rikucho's signature pinched silhouette, a distinctive design element shared across his cast iron cookware collection. Beautiful enough to serve directly at the table, this exceptional piece is as much a work of functional art as it is premium cookware.
