The technical game reel Stile returns with even greater power and improved operability. Its 55 mm long handle delivers powerful winding performance even under heavy loads, while the highly rigid HAGANE Body provides solid support throughout the retrieve. Inside, the MicroModule Gear ensures exceptionally smooth rotation, helping anglers stay focused on the task at hand.

A newly designed clutch lever has been developed to improve handling and support technical fishing techniques. The reel is also configured for fighting fish with light lines, featuring smooth drag startup with carbon cloth washers and an Exciting Drag Sound that allows anglers to hear drag release during the fight.

Despite incorporating these advanced features, the reel maintains a lightweight design. Its technical and versatile performance has been taken to the next level. For 2026, a new HG (High Gear) model has been introduced, making the Stile even more versatile and suitable for a wider range of fishing applications.

The greatest strength of the Stile has always been its lightweight design. While preserving that advantage, this generation focuses on significantly improving both power and operability. Built around a highly rigid HAGANE Body, it combines a robust internal drivetrain with features designed for exciting fights on light lines. Light, precise, and highly versatile, the Stile is a compact powerhouse built to dominate technical inshore and light boat fishing.

Significantly reduced gear noise without compromising strength.

The pinion and main gear feature smaller teeth with an increased tooth count, allowing more gear teeth to mesh simultaneously. This design dramatically reduces gear noise while maintaining durability. The result is smoother power transmission, Shimano's signature refined retrieve, and a winding feel that inspires confidence—not only when fighting fish, but even while retrieving your rig.

Approximately 6% lower handle load.

Retrieve effort is determined by the maximum line retrieve per handle rotation (calculated from the gear ratio and spool diameter) as well as handle length.

Although the new model features a higher gear ratio than its predecessor, it also uses a smaller spool diameter and a longer handle. As a result, handle load (retrieving effort) has been reduced by approximately 6%.*

Magnesium frame delivers both lightweight performance and exceptional rigidity.

The frame is constructed from the same high-rigidity magnesium material used in Shimano's flagship Stella spinning reels. This allows every model to maintain an impressively light weight of just 145 g while providing outstanding body rigidity for high-load fights.

A flexing body wastes power and reduces retrieve smoothness. The Stile is engineered to eliminate those concerns. Even when battling unexpectedly large fish, it maintains a smooth, stable retrieve with remarkable cranking power that far exceeds what its compact, lightweight body would suggest. It's a reel you can trust when landing the fish you simply can't afford to lose.

The benefits of weight reduction are invested in the handle.

By reducing weight throughout the reel, Shimano was able to upgrade the handle from 51 mm to 55 mm without increasing overall weight. The reel still weighs only 145 g, while the longer handle delivers greater leverage and cranking torque, expanding its versatility across a wider range of fishing situations.

Smooth clutch operation while maintaining a three-finger grip.

For light boat fishing, where three-finger palming is the most common grip, the newly designed clutch lever allows anglers to disengage the reel with minimal thumb movement. Designed with ergonomics in mind, this refined lever shape enhances control and supports precise, technical fishing techniques.

Shimano centrifugal braking for confident casting and horizontal presentations.

Shimano's proprietary centrifugal braking system delivers rapid spool startup for longer, smoother casts while effectively reducing backlash. It makes casting easier and more consistent for anglers of all skill levels.

This has become an essential feature in techniques such as kawahagi fishing, where anglers increasingly switch from vertical presentations to casting and searching horizontally when fish are unresponsive.

The long-awaited HG model expands your tactical options.

For 2026, Shimano introduces a versatile HG (High Gear) model, completing the lineup with three gear ratio options. Choosing the right gear ratio for your target species and fishing style allows you to optimize performance in a wide variety of light boat fishing applications.

• XG (Extra High Gear) is ideal for species such as kawahagi and fugu, where quickly deploying and retrieving rigs—or instantly setting the hook on subtle upward bites—is critical. Its higher line retrieve per handle turn increases fishing efficiency.
• PG (Power Gear) excels when greater cranking power and consistent retrieves are required, such as tenya cutlassfish (tachiuo) fishing or tai-rubber (tai-raba) techniques.
• HG (High Gear) is the versatile all-round model, offering an excellent balance of speed and power for a wide range of species, including maruika, kawahagi, and many other light boat fishing applications.
